While CCA represents a growing number of churches, we still seek to maintain a sense of family among ourselves. That of course lends itself to a rejoicing as God blesses our movement, but also to a responsibility with difficult situations.
With that in mind, we are deeply saddened to share with you that Pastor Scott Gallatin of Calvary Chapel Finger Lakes, has after a long season of illness, taken his own life.
His wife has shared that after 15 months of physical suffering and decline, as well as 10 months of crippling insomnia, his thinking became very impaired. He came to believe the great lie from Satan that his value to others was wrapped within his ability to perform; as a pastor, husband, father, and so on. Unfortunately, in his weakened mind, he thought the most loving thing to do was to alleviate others of the burden he felt he had become.
Scott was a committed and doctrinally sound pastor, who loved his family and shepherded the church with all his heart.
Please pray for his immediate family, his church family, and our greater Calvary family in this heartbreaking loss. And certainly, if anyone is overwhelmed with similar thoughts or discouragement, please find a pastor or counselor to confide in, as our enemy is a liar and murderer from the beginning.
In His Name,
CCA Council
